Detailed Backup Policy

Below is our backup policy detailing strategies employed by us for taking backups that are effective, safe and actually recoverable in time.

Data is no-more static. Its changing quickly every day. Having a data backup up every week or month is no more beneficial as their is 1000s of man hours of work which gets lost due to delayed backups or loose backup-policies. We at SKE enables daily backup of your data so your backup is as current as it can be. Not only that, we take 2 times a day backup to ensure complete safety. Also, this provides you with least loss of data in case of any mishapening with your data as your last backup copy is only few hours away and sometimes only few minutes apart from your current live working data. This ensures complete peace of mind for our customers.

While other cloud providers hardly take single daily backup and that too on ether same server as your live data or on separate disk that may fail anytime thus making you lose all your backup at once, we not only enable 2 times a day backup but also we enable backup on 2 backup disks and those 2 disks are on 2 separate backup servers. None of these backup servers are on server with live data. This means that if a backup disk/ backup server fails, you still got daily backup on the other backup server and your work is 100% safe.

All our backups are on servers that are separate from main/live working data servers. This ensures that in case of failure of your main server, the data can be restored from backup server without any problems. These backup servers mostly are on-site which means they are in same data center. This is due to the fact that backups are taken as snapshot of full server disk includng data, users, user settings, operating system etc. so that a complete as-is restore is possiible in case of main server failure. This also means we have lots of data to manage per server so its not possible to send full server snapshot offsite due to bandwidth limitations. However, we have additional backup packages avaialble which you can subscribe for off-site / remote backup location along with ongoing on-site backups. Please ask your account manager if you are interested in availing off-site full server snapshot backup. We also have option of offsite google drive backup and / or offsite ftp backup for particular data folders / imporatant files which you can subscribe with us. In such case you receieve daily date-wise offsite backup of your data.

Most cloud operators does not give enough importance to backups as they give to live data. Thats why whereas main servers enjoy speeds upto 1 Gbps, they use backup speeds of 100 mpbs or so. This means backup takes more time to complete. When there are lot of VMs to be backed up, this can be real time consuming. We at SKE use super High 10 Gbps bandwidth lines for backups to ensure lightening speeds of network during backups. In addition, we keep separate backup lines than main internet lines of server so our main lines are not choked during backups.

While other cloud operators are using super slow Hard Disk drives to save costs but that means that at time of restoration, you have to wait hours to restore each VM and this wastes times of customers. If more than multiple servers needs restoration, such restorations can take days to complete. We at SKE use super fast latest NVMe drives for your backups which support backup restorations at lightening speeds. Coupled with Super high speed 10 Gbps private bandwidth line dedicated for backups, our restorations taken 1/10th of the time typically taken by other cloud operators. This is what makes SKE stand out of the herd and shine to be India's # 1 Cloud Operator.

Whereas Hard Disk drives used by other cloud operators for backup support single machine restoration at a time due to head of HDD needs to be mechanically visit each data unit, our super fast NVMe backup drives support upto 10 machines backup restoration at a times, which means multiple machines can be restored at the same time from same backup drive that means we shorten your time of distress to 1/10th of usual..

We understand your data safety and understand that your backups are needed to be kept securely. Thats why backups are 256-bit aes encrypted (military grade encryption) so that no once can access your data backups without your authorization. An audit trail is maintained for data backup requests and disbursement so that it is ensured that there are 0% chances of your data leakage. Backups are encrypted with system generated random passwords.

Backups are inaccessible to anyone from our staff to our engineers. When a restore/ data backup recovery request is received, our customer care executives verify the request whether received from authorized mobiles / emails only. Once authorization is established ticket is created for engineer which automatically opens the data recovery option in engineer panel. This way we ensure that your recovery requests always have proper authorization and no data backups can be accessed by un-authorized person in any way.
